Walking in and around
|
The Ramblers Association exists to further the
enjoyment and discovery that walking outdoors can bring to everyone, and to
promote respect for the life of the countryside. We encourage walking; protect
rights of way; defend the beauty of the countryside and have campaigned for
many years for freedom to roam over uncultivated, open country.

to walking with us? Our short ‘Walking Out in Sheffield’ walks programme is
designed for people new to walking or coming back to it after a break, or
people who would just like a shorter walk. Each walk is about two or three
hours at a gentle pace. There is a walk on the first Saturday of each month,
and the third Thursday. For more info, click here
or ring Bill McGuinness on 01226 283598. Each month we
also have a Themed Short Walk of about 5 miles or
so at an easy pace. Besides enjoying the walking, these are an opportunity to
learn a bit about local history and the landscape. These are on Sundays. See
the Walks Programme for more information – links on the left. The
Themed Short Walks are in a separate section. You will be
made very welcome on any of our walks, including the longer ones. Find out more about us, where to meet and what you need, by
clicking on the link. Getting on to the new access land – the Eastern Moors of
the Sheffield
Group has identified access points, by which we mean a stile, gate or field
gate (which could be locked and should only be used as a last resort). (You
may enter and leave access land at any point but must take care not to damage
walls or fences.) To see the list, click here.
